FAQ
What shall I wear?
Ballroom, Latin, salsa, Tango - First and foremost, wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. People tend to dress smarter than they would for a fitness class as it isn't an aerobic exercise class and there is the scial element of course! BUT it is personal choice, JUST BE COMFORTABLE! Layers are a good idea so you can take them off as you get warmer and put them back on as you are cooling down. Jeans can be restrictive in some of the more advanced moves, especially in tango. Dance shoes are not essential at first... Just wear something that isn't going to stick to the floor and is secure to your foot. Ladies - Heels can be difficult to danc ein if they arent proper dance shoes as they arent flexible enough to support your foot.
Zumba is a fitness class and so gym wear is essential! Trainers can put strain on the knee joints on some of the moves and so please be aware of this. Dance sneakers, jazz shoes or plimsolls are better but don't worry if you don't have those!

Medical issues?
As well as helping strengthen joints and muscles, increasing flexibility and general fitness, dance can help those with self esteem issues or depression. However, we ask you to alert the instructor to any medical issues which might effect your health whilst dancing. It is always a good idea to consult your doctor before taking up any form of exercise if you have any medical problems. This applies especially to Zumba Fitness. Just make sure that you take things at your own pace. There are always other options if you don't feel up to a certain move, just have a quiet word with the instructor. Dancing is also excellent exercise for pregnant women, it is gentle exercise and is great for keeping those joints flexible. Please make it known to the instructor at the start of the class just so that we can ensure you are not in any risk from certain moves as your balance changes during pregnancy.
Do I need a partner?
You can come with a partner, on your own or with a group of friends. As long as you don't mind dancing with whoever else is there and swapping around! We will endeavor to ensure that everyone gets the chance to dance with a partner during the evening. If you feel nervous to take that first step, please get in touch. You aren't the only one, and if you get chatting to any of the regulars you will find out that they felt exactly the same! They will tell you that the biggest step is coming in that first time. You don't have to be in a couple, coming to a dance class on your own is completely NORMAL and a lot of people do it! Give it a try...
